The Blake Lyons Good Citizen Scholarship is made possible by the Northern Employee Benefits Services’ Board of Directors on an annual basis. These scholarships are awarded to 2 students, one from Nunavut and one from the NWT, that have shown an extraordinary commitment to community service, volunteerism, and leadership.
There will be two $1,000 awards, one which will be awarded to a Nunavut applicant, and the other to an Northwest Territories applicant.
Qualifications: Each applicant must be a full-time student at a post-secondary institution who has demonstrated strong commitment to community service and volunteer activities in their community. Applicants must be a resident of the NWT or Nunavut.
Applications: Students applying for the scholarship must submit their application by November 25th, 2022, and include the following supporting documents:
- Proof of registration and attendance at school;
- Proof of residency;
- A personal essay outlining what they have done to make their community a better place;
- Two letters of reference.
