Precalculus
Course number: MATH 0111
Course length: 45 hrs
Course credits: 3 credits
Course description:
Pre-calculus mathematics takes a strong algebraic approach to functions and prepares students for a future course in calculus. Families of functions that are studied include linear, polynomial, radical, rational, exponential, logarithmic and sinusoidal. Transformations of functions will be a common theme throughout the course. Trigonometric identities will be introduced and investigated.
Data will be modeled to fit linear, exponential and trigonometric functions both with and without technology. Inverses will be used to solve equations as well as to relate families of functions to each other. Technology will also be used as a way to help solve equations.
