In this course, students focus on their growth as a professional nurse and leader. Students examine how nurse leaders influence, create, and manage change for the promotion of individual, community, and global health. Nursing leadership roles are examined across diverse practice contexts and systems. Students engage with theoretical perspectives in leadership and examine ways to enact those perspectives. Students recognize nurses as leaders within the Canadian health care system and consider their impact on global trends and issues, including the issues facing nurses in the current work environment. Collaborative and ethical approaches for working within organizational philosophies and frameworks are explored.
