Course description:
This course emphasizes the health of mothers, infants, children and youth, with an introduction to normal growth and development from conception to adolescence. Developmental milestones from infancy through adolescence and techniques to measure these milestones will be explored. Discussion will increase understanding of how early brain and child development is linked to lifelong learning, health and well-being, and the influence of health determinants. Traditional knowledge, historical and cultural perspectives, values, and beliefs that support healthy growth and development will be examined.
