Course description:
This course is designed to introduce the student to basic mathematics and builds on prior knowledge of arithmetic concepts. The ALBE Math 120 curriculum incorporates seven interrelated mathematical processes: communication, connections, mental mathematics and estimation, problem-solving, reasoning, technology, and visualization. Some topics of study are number quantities; number operations, fractions and percentages; ratio and rate; patterns and pre-algebra; perimeter, area and volume problem solving, two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional objects; translations and reflections; and statistical data analysis. Upon completion of this course, students may choose to continue their studies in ALBE Math 130.
