Course description:

This course develops scientific literacy in students builds on the student’s knowledge of chemistry at the intermediate (grade 11) level. Learners explore, analyze and appreciate the interrelationships among science, technology, society and the environment. The major themes are: change, diversity, energy, matter and systems. The topics of study are: diversity and matter, forms of matter: gases, matter as solutions: acids and bases, and quantitative relationships in chemical changes. Upon completion of this course, students may choose to continue their studies in Chemistry 30.
